Care Provider
Steven D. Siegel, MD
Dr. Steven D. Siegel is board certified in medical oncology and internal medicine and practices at the Cancer Specialists of North Florida office at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Riverside.
Dr. Siegel is especially interested in the complexity of the issues facing his patients and the disease process. He joined Cancer Specialists of North Florida because he was impressed by the hospital where he works and the expertise of his fellow physicians.
As a child growing up in Valley Stream, New York, on Long Island, Dr. Siegel always wanted to be a physician. “I enjoyed learning about the different cancers, and I like taking care of the whole patient and not just one organ system,” he says.
Working with patients is the most rewarding part of the job for Dr. Siegel, who recalls many patients because of the advanced nature of their disease that was eventually cured or because of a bond he formed with them and their families.
Dr. Siegel is optimistic about new cancer treatments on the horizon that will unlock the role of intracellular mechanisms that promote malignancy. Already, he says the addition of treatments such as Rituxan and Herceptin are helping with the success of cancer treatment.
Outside of his practice, Dr. Siegel enjoys spending time with his family or on the golf course. He and his wife Betsy, who have been married 24 years, live in Ponte Vedra. Their daughter Zoe is a senior at Wagner College studying neurobiology, and their son Satchel is an incoming freshman at Washington University in St. Louis.
